Laura Helton

Vice President

I started being involved in rescue work in 2010. My first involvement was transporting dogs that were going to rescues in northern states. During that time, I got to know several rescues throughout the country. I began pulling dogs from shelters all over Kentucky and often fostering for these rescues until they could be transported. I also began reaching out to rescues to help individual dogs in different bad situations and/or in high kill shelters. Since the early days, I have become connected through Facebook and word of mouth with dozens of rescues across the country and the people who help them. The network is amazing. Basically, I devoted myself in many ways to saving as many dogs as possible -- one dog at a time -- by doing whatever was necessary for each situation as they were presented to me.

Katie Turbyfill

Treasurer

I am a previous board member of the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society, where I was president and secretary. I have been involved with Happy Paws Spay and Neuter Clinic since its beginning in 2007. I was the dog room person for pre-and post-op, then the co-director, and now director.

Julie Rodes

Secretary

Years ago, I fostered puppies and volunteered to help inmates clean the cat kennels at the Danville-Boyle County Humane Society. More recently, I have acted as receptionist and assisted the vet at Happy Paws Spay and Neuter Clinic. I have independently assisted in wildlife rescue and monetarily supported state, national, and international rescue and animal welfare organizations.

Rachel Beckman

Press relations

I became involved in animal welfare efforts by trapping, spaying/neutering and adopting out or sending to rescue dozens of unowned cats from my neighborhood. Since 2021, I have worked independently to build a network of rescues, fosters, transporters, and other volunteers. In my previous role, I was the Community Outreach Coordinator for Boyle County Animal Control.
